Last week we discussed some of the types of incontinence:
stress urinary incontinence
urge incontinence
overflow incontinence
This week, we continue our discussion about other types of incontinence including:

functional incontinence
iatrogenic incontinence
Functional Incontinence
Functional incontinence is the result of things that make it difficult to get to the bathroom in time to urinate. Unlike the other three types of incontinence discussed so far, it does not result from pelvic floor muscle weakening, increased abdominal pressure, infections or nervous system disorders. Instead, it occurs when people have insufficient mobility or impaired manual dexterity that makes it hard to physically get to the bathroom and undress in time. This may occur for a number of reasons, among them osteoporosis, fractures associated with decreased mobility, and arthritis. (more…)
